Medium-sized and large enterprises accumulate a constant stream of data and information in all areas, ranging from sales to accounting and controlling. This data is rarely structured consistently and it is even more uncommon that it is evaluated by different departments comprehensively. At the same time, conclusions can be drawn only by combining information, looking at it from a bird´s eye view. This can lead to a competitive advantage.
In a data warehouse, data from different sources that is structured differently is put together. Therefore, existing systems have to be analysed and data has to be arranged. Processes are built to extract and, if necessary, transform information from different sources before bringing it into the data warehouse. Afterwards, correlations can be identified by analysing the data with statistical methods (data mining).
Contradictory reports from different departments are avoided as every area accessing information from a data warehouse uses the same data source. More often than not, a data warehouse is the source for a standardised reporting as well as for a management information system.
We support our clients in the conceptual design as well as the implementation of a data warehouse and the associated analyses. We offer independent consultancy and have worked with almost every available software solution from leading manufacturers.
